Building a new raised bed.

The main thing that gets me to start on a build is finding the right material. When my father in law told me he had some roof joists, I knew it was time to make a new raised bed. The roof joists are very similar to scaffolding boards in size.

I only had a saw and hammer on me that day and wood is about 3in thick and wet, so it took what felt a life time to cut.

The next day I took delivery of a whole lot of horse manure and because we are trying the no dig system, my plan is to put a layer of cardboard down first and then top with manure.

Keeping to my recycling theme, the cardboard comes from a local factory and they are happy for me to raid there recycle bins for it. Once all topped off the bed came out really well. I did over fill the bed but that was on purpose as this is a way to store the manure till over beds are ready to fill.
